WhatsApp communityNavratri is nine nights given to the Goddess — Durga, in her many names. Hindu Mauritian families keep it in different ways: some with nightly puja at home, some with music and dance, some with a single community evening in the middle of the festival. HMS (UK) marks Sharad Navratri, the autumn festival, together in Epsom.
What the evening looks like is confirmed year by year — prayers, bhajans, and time together, with traditional wear welcome. We do not promise a full nine-night programme or a particular dance form; we promise a room that understands why the nine nights matter, at St. Clement’s Church Hall on Kingston Road.

Which Navratri do you mark?
Sharad Navratri — the autumn festival. That is the one most widely kept in the UK, and the one HMS (UK) gathers for in Epsom.
Will there be garba or raas?
Some years the evening includes music and space to dance; some years it is prayers and bhajans. We publish the running order on the dated event page once it is confirmed, rather than promising a format we cannot keep.
Is it family-friendly?
Yes. Children are welcome, and the hall is our usual community venue rather than a late-night club.
Do I need a ticket?
If we are ticketing, the link will be on this year’s event page. If the date is still to be announced, there is nothing to buy yet — message us on WhatsApp and we will share details when we have them.
How do I get to Epsom?
St. Clement’s Church Hall is at 307 Kingston Road, KT19 0BW. Trains to Epsom, Ewell West, Tolworth or Worcester Park, then a short bus, taxi or walk depending on the station. More on the Epsom page.
